Considerations When Selecting Program Presenters

Previous experience is not required, but it is considered in the selection process.

  • Have you presented a library program before?
  • Have you worked with this age group at other events?
  • Do you have public speaking experience?

We value presenters who have first-hand or well-researched knowledge of their topics.

  • What is your personal or professional experience in this field?
  • How long have you been working in this area?

Library programs can accomplish a variety of goals, ranging from entertaining to educational.

  • What do you hope to accomplish by creating a library program?
  • Are you sharing knowledge, connecting people with resources, or creating a memorable experience?

Program Creation Process

  • While all presenters will be carefully considered, the Library will not be able to approve all proposals. You will be notified if the Library will or will not approve your program proposal.
  • If your program proposal is accepted, you will be connected with a Library staff member from the branch where you will host your program.
  • First, you will select a date and time for your program. Programs are typically planned over 2 months in advance. So if you submit your proposal in January, you will likely be planning a program for April or later.
  • You will then sign a Presenter Agreement Form to solidify your program details.
  • Library staff will create marketing materials for your program. You are welcome to provide photos or logos to assist in creating our marketing materials. These promotional materials may include a website event calendar entry, fliers, bookmarks, or slides. The Programming Manager and Communications Manager will determine if programs are promoted on additional platforms, including social media, newsletters, or partner media platforms.
